Short duration of studies:
Not only because of the discussion about tuition fees for those who are already studying for quite a long time we tried to find ways to shorten the duration of study without causing disadvantages neither for students nor for the quality of studies. Our solution was to introduce the Bachelor/Master - system. The University of Paderborn was one of the first universities in Germany who began to put into practice the decision which was made in Bologna and which was meant to unify the European educational system. On account of that, we are already well-versed with those new study paths.

Intensive support:
The University of Paderborn is not a huge university where one professor has to take care for more than 100 students. The establishment of a close relationship between students and lecturers is something which we consider very important. This relationship is also something which was and still is appreciated by our students.

Flexible education with outlook:
Flexibility concerning the choice of one’s field of study is the centerpiece of studying chemistry at Paderborn. The first part of these studies normally takes four terms and is more or less the same for all students of chemistry. However, after these four terms you can choose among the two following interesting alternatives:

• In line of the Bachelor-education you could specialise on classic chemistry which is equivalent to a standardized university education in the sector of chemistry.
• However, you could also continue your studies in the field of application-oriented chemistry and in the technology of coating materials which offers you excellent career-opportunities after only 6 terms of study.

Both branches can be continued by a scientifically oriented Master-education which also enables you to take your degrees.

A campus of short distances:
The University of Paderborn is exemplary concerning its campus of short distances. On the campus all facilities, such as the cafeteria and the library are within walking distance. An Irish Pub and a Pizzeria offer some variety and leave room for recreation. The city center can also be reached within a few minutes.

The "Semesterticket":
The University of Paderborn provides its students with the ‘Semesterticket’. It allows you to either commute to university or to explore its surroundings in your free time. The ‘Semesterticket’ covers quite a large area and it can be used in busses and trains of local traffic. It also serves as a train ticket if you want to travel between Paderborn and Münster, Paderborn and Osnabrück, Paderborn and Bielefeld, Paderborn and Warburg, Paderborn and Unna and so on.

Low maintenance:
Studying at a university does not only mean attending lectures or doing some research in the library. Studying at Paderborn also means paying low rents for modern student dormitories or even for apartments on the free market. Paderborn offers a lot of diversity concerning cultural life and sports which both do not require a fat purse.
