Ultrafast X-ray spectroscopy and the investigation of photochemical reactions

The X-ray techniques XAS (X-ray absorption spectoscopy) and XES (X-ray emission spectrsocopy) allow detailed insights into the strcutural and electronic changes during photoexciations of transition metal complexes. Especially spin states and MLCT details can be probed by Kβ-XES in in a unique way. We carry out such measurements both at synchrotrons and free electron lasers, with a focus on noble-metal free chromophores.
