Welcome to the Homepage of the Hohloch Research Group.

We are interested in the synthesis of new, functional organometallic compounds und their applications in chemical and physical processes. Special emphasis is laid on the connection between the electronic and spectroscopic properties of a metal complex with its general reactivity. Understanding this interplay enables us to design tailor made metal complexes for a plethora of applications, including small molecule activation, single molecule magnetism and catalysis. To reach these goals, focus is put especially on the use of "non-classical" N-heterocyclic carbenes, such as cyclic alkyl amino carbenes (CAACs) and mesoionic carbenes (MICs). Another class of ligands that will be extensively used in our research will be macrocyclic ligands, including Tetramethyltetraazaannulene (TMTAA) or Norcorroles. On the metal side, we plan to focus on 3d transition metals (Sc - Zn) as well ason the lanthanides (La - Lu).
