Synthesis with renewable raw materials and biologically active compounds

We strive to apply methods developed within our group to the synthesis of interesting target structures. An important aspect in this context is, inter alia, the use of renewable resources instead of fossil-based materials, which can significantly mitigate the carbon footprint of chemical products. In this regard, we are working with CO₂, plant-based oils and fats, sugars as well as other renewables as starting materials for biologically active and other high-value products.

Ambrocenide® is a terpene based powerful fragrance. We recently reported an alternative synthesis starting from a readily available terpene derivative.
