Kyambogo University sitting on Banda Hill on the eastern side of Kampala city is one of the largest public universities in Uganda established by an act of Parliament in 2003 as a merger of three great STEM-focused training institutions, namely Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK), and the Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE). Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), focused on engineering technical training, was established in 1928, the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK) started as a Government Teacher Training College in 1948 and became an autonomous teacher training institute in 1987, and the Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE) started as a Department of Special Education at ITEK in 1988 and later became an autonomous institution by an act of parliament in 1998. The main aim of the establishment of Kyambogo University was to promote and advance knowledge and development of skills in Science, Technology and Education, and other fields. Besides the specific training programs delivered in the 6 faculties and 6 schools that constitute Kyambogo University, the University also manages the delivery of vocational teacher training in over 5 vocational teacher training institutes across the country. Kyambogo University boasts a student number of 25,000 on campus and 15,000 off campus. The STEAM-based faculties and schools of Kyambogo University - including the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, School of Built Environment, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Vocational Studies, and Faculty of Art and Design – have a student population of over 4,500 students. The university also has a Faculty of Special Needs Education which focuses on training in the delivery of knowledge and skills in special needs to facilitate social and economic inclusion of persons with special needs.

It is a public university located in the city of Fayoum in northern Egypt. From 1976 to 2005, Fayoum University was a public institution within the University of Cairo. In August 2005, it was established as an independent campus. Fayoum University offers undergraduate and graduate programs as well as open education opportunities via its 14 faculties, including Science, Engineering, and Medicine. The university hosts the Environmental and Smart Technology Group (ESTG), which is mainly interested in the science and engineering of surfaces and interfaces of various materials and devices. The team members have extensive background and expertise in different fields, including Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Electrical Engineering. Research interests include membrane science and technology, printed electronics, carbon-based materials and devices, solution-processed solar cells, solar energy systems, 2D transition metal chalcogenides, and biosensors. ESTG has established close and long-term collaboration with academic and industrial partners in Europe, USA, Asia, and Middle East.
