Kyambogo University, located on Banda Hill in the east of the city of Kampala, is one of the largest public universities in Uganda. It was founded in 2003 by an Act of Parliament and emerged from the merger of three major institutions specialising in STEM education: Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), the Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK) and the Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE).
Uganda Polytechnic Kyambogo (UPK), which focussed on engineering and technical education, was founded in 1928. The Institute of Teacher Education, Kyambogo (ITEK) started in 1948 as a government teacher training institute and became an autonomous teacher training centre in 1987. The Uganda National Institute of Special Education (UNISE) started in 1988 as the Department of Special Education at ITEK and became an autonomous institution in 1998 through an Act of Parliament.
The main objective of establishing Kyambogo University was to promote and develop knowledge and skills in the fields of science, technology, education and other departments. In addition to the specific training programmes offered in the university's six faculties and six schools, Kyambogo University is also responsible for the training of vocational teachers at more than five vocational training institutes across the country.
The university has about 25,000 students on campus and another 15,000 off campus. Kyambogo University's STEAM-focused faculties and schools - including the Faculty of Engineering, Faculty of Science, School of Built Environment, Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Vocational Studies and Faculty of Art and Design - have a combined enrolment of more than 4,500 students.
The university also has a Faculty of Special Needs Education, which focuses on training in the fields of special needs education and on imparting knowledge and skills to promote the social and economic inclusion of people with special needs.

It is a public university in the city of Fayoum in the north of Egypt. From 1976 to 2005, Fayoum University was a public institution within Cairo University. In August 2005, it was founded as an independent campus. Fayoum University offers Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes as well as open educational opportunities through its 14 faculties, including Science, Engineering and Medicine. The university is home to the Environmental and Smart Technology Group (ESTG), which mainly focuses on the science and engineering of surfaces and interfaces of various materials and devices. ESTG has established close and long-term collaborations with academic and industrial partners in Europe, the USA, Asia and the Middle East.

Founded in 1986, the University of Sousse is today a leading Tunisian public higher education institution. It brings together 17 faculties, institutes and higher education schools as well as 26 research units covering a wide range of disciplines - from the natural sciences to the humanities, from accounting to anthropology and from marketing to medicine. Recently, the University of Sousse was accredited as an autonomous public scientific and technological institution. The university has dynamic and distinguished colleges and institutes with high expertise in the STEM field and a leading role in quality development.
