Micropenetration with Fisherscope

The method for determining th Martens hardness is standardized in DIN EN ISO 14577 (Metallic materials - Instrumented indentation test for hardness and materials parameters). In this method the power and the penetration depth during the loading, the unloading and the holding phases is continuously measured. The Martens hardness (HM) is defined as the ratio of the maximum force to the corresponding contact surface and is expressed in Newton per square millimetre.
